SFU Rugby Calcutta and Team Bonding Night

The 2010/2011 season is upon us and this calls for a team bonding/welcoming night. We will also be holding a Calcutta that evening. A Calcutta is “a betting event where the names of players in a particular event are ‘auctioned off’ to the highest bidder” for first try of the match.

When: 23 September at 21:00

Where: Anduccis at Lougheed

Things to know:

· We’ll likely be ending practice …at 8:30pm, but check back as this is subject to change.
*Note: Practice is at Forest Grove on the 23rd.

· You’ll shower up at the university. (We don’t want to stink out the new recruits)

· Head to Anduccis from 9pm until Midnight. Bring $10 for food; there will be an abundance of pasta and you can buy beer (cheap pitchers).

· We’ll be auctioning off some old SFU jerseys and making some friendly wagers.

· We will MOST IMPORTANTLY be introducing the new players to SFU Rugby; coaches, executive and players making them feel welcome.

· Attendance is mandatory. This is a practice night so your schedule should be clear anyway. We want to show our new recruits how awesome our club is and to do that we need lots of people and minimal nudity (or maybe more?)

- Having class on Friday morning is a lame(unacceptable) excuse to not attend, but if you insist at least stay for your fill of pasta and say Hi to all the newbies!

Clubs Days

Clubs days will be held Sept 14, 15, 16 (tues-thurs) from 9am-3pm.

There are 15 tables assigned for sport clubs: Tables 16-20, 36-40 and 56-60.

Tables are first come, first serve.

Megan will be there early on Tuesday and Wednesday to set up, however we NEED people to man the table! So, anyone and everyone, if you are available at any time during those days PLEASE stop by and help out. Clubs days is an incredibly important recruitment tool for the club, provided by the university. With the men entering the PNW league, it is essential that we attract more university students. There are tons of new first years who are going to be interested in joining rugby, especially if they played in high school. WE WANT THESE PLAYERS!
